Anya Silver (1968 - 2018) published four books of poetry with the Louisiana State University Press: The Ninety-Third Name of God, I Watched You Disappear, From Nothing, as well as a heartwrenchingly-beautiful posthumous collection, Saint Agnostica. Her poems were published in numerous anthologies and journals, including Best American Poetry 2016, Poetry in Medicine, How to Write a Poem, and Intimacy: Poems. Her work was featured on Garrison Keillor’s The Writer’s Almanac, in Ted Kooser’s syndicated column American Life in Poetry, as an Academy of American Poets Poem of the Day, and on Poetry Daily. In 2015, she was named Georgia Author of the Year for Poetry.
Silver was Professor of English at Mercer University and lived in Macon, Georgia with her husband and son.
