Support Poetry@Tech

Poetry@Tech exists because of philanthropy. From its founding to today, our programming, instruction, and outreach are made possible by the generosity of donors who believe in the power of poetry to transform lives.

At Georgia Tech — a place known for innovation and technical excellence — Poetry@Tech brings world-class poets into classrooms and communities, broadening students’ perspectives and making space for creativity and connection. Your support helps us expand the reach of poetry on campus and across the country.

Philanthropic support allows us to:

  • Host award-winning poets for public readings, class visits, and community events
  • Support poetry education and student writing at Georgia Tech
  • Distribute free poetry books and materials across campus
  • Partner with local and international organizations to strengthen the arts in Georgia and beyond

Poetry@Tech was founded through the vision and generosity of Margaret T. and Henry C. Bourne Jr. and H. Bruce McEver, whose gifts continue to shape our mission.

Margaret and Henry Bourne endowed the Bourne Chair in Poetry in 2002 to ensure that Georgia Tech students have lasting access to outstanding instruction in poetry.

A Georgia Tech alumnus and poet, Bruce McEver established an endowment to bring leading voices in poetry to campus and promote the liberal arts as a vital complement to technical education.

  • G. Wayne and Anne Clough
  • Cheney G. Crow
  • Ronald Franke and Sharon James
  • Kenneth J. and Amy A. Knoespel
  • Joseph E. Phillips and Carolyn Ann Dimsdale Phillips

Their contributions support awards, student enrichment funds, and programs that celebrate both new and established voices in poetry.

Much of what we do at Poetry@Tech is made possible through the generosity of donors who believe in the transformative power of language. Gifts from individuals, foundations, and partners allow us to bring world-renowned poets to campus, support emerging student voices, and make poetry accessible to our campus and community.
