National Poetry Month at Georgia Tech

Celebrate poetry all April with events, book drops, and poetry across campus.

April is National Poetry Month, created in April of 1996 by the Academy of American Poets to highlight the importance of poetry to the world. Join Poetry@Tech in celebrating poetry and National Poetry Month at Georgia Tech!

Stay tuned for more activities as the month goes on!

Find yard signs and digital displays featuring quotes from celebrated poets across campus throughout April.

Pick up free poetry books and letterpress notecards in the Poetry@Tech lobby — new selections drop once a week.

Browse a curated selection of poetry books near the Popular Reading section in the Price Gilbert Library.

Watch and listen to readings from poets like Naomi Shihab Nye and Richard Siken on the Media Bridge all month long.

Poetry@Tech’s National Poetry Month activities started in 2024, under the leadership of the third Bourne Chair of Poetry, Victoria Chang. Her vision was to bring language into the daily lives of Tech students through a robust suite of activities all month long. From poetry yard signs to free poetry book drops announced on social media, to library displays, and student open mics, she envisioned a campus filled with the power of poetry.

Stay tuned for our 2026 National Poetry Month events!
